Congressman Steve Israel, D-Huntington, has set up shop in Great Neck Plaza.

The move comes after redistricting in January changed the seven-term lawmaker's 3rd District boundaries to include northeast Queens, Glen Cove, Great Neck, Port Washington and Roslyn.

"Now that 60 percent of our district is in Nassau County, we wanted to have another office that's accessible to those in the western part of the district," said Samantha Slater, Israel's communications director.

With established offices in Melville and Washington, D.C., Great Neck was chosen for the newest office because of it's "good geographic location," according to Slater.

The Great Neck office officially opened last Monday, the same day as the Boston bombings. Grand opening was last Friday.

"As we focus on Boston, today I opened our Great Neck office," Tweeted Israel April 19. "If you have any federal issues, pay us a visit."

Staffed by one person, the office will be open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 11 Barstow Rd., in Great Neck Plaza.

Israel moved to Huntington in October following a divorce and a controversial short sale of his Dix Hills home last October.
