Quinn Loses Backing of Three Democratic Clubs

Sources say the City Council speaker is 'livid' at the decision.

New York City Democratic mayoral candidate Christine Quinn has lost the backing of three Democratic clubs, one of which is in her own district, the New York Post reported.

The Village Independent Democrats, located in the heart of Quinn’s district, has decided to back the more left-leaning city Comptroller John Liu. And the Broadway Democrats and Coalition for a Democratic Alternative (CoDA) have done the same, claiming that Quinn has become too centrist as City Council Speaker.

A source close to the Village Independent Democrats said Quinn’s ground game is “off” and that the City Council speaker was “livid” over losing that group.
