City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, D-Manhattan, picked up endorsements this week that included everyone from a northeast Queens civic leader to the creator of a popular HBO program.

Both Warren Schreiber, president of the Bay Terrace Community Alliance, released a video for Quinn’s campaign in which he explains why he has backed her mayoral campaign.

Schreiber touts Quinn’s handling of a 2011 plan by the city’s Department of Finance that would have resulted in substantial property tax increases for co-op owners.

An agreement was eventually reached with Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s administration to roll back the majority of the increases.

“This agreement would not have happened if it weren’t for the intervention of Chris Quinn,” Schreiber said in his video. “It proved to me that she really cared about the middle class. She’s compassionate. At times, she can be tough and that’s a good thing because when you’re mayor of the city of New York, there are times when you have to be tough.”

And Lena Dunham, creator of HBO’s “Girls,” said she was backing both Quinn and Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer in his bid for city comptroller.

“I’m passionate about the idea of the first woman mayor,” Dunham wrote. “Plus @ChrisCQuinn is tough, results oriented and can handle a city as complex as NY.”

Quinn will face off in the Democratic primary for mayor against former comptroller Bill Thompson, current comptroller John Liu, former U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner and Public Advocate Bill de Blasio.
