Meng Sworn In As Congresswoman

Flushing Democrat replaces Gary Ackerman in House of Representatives.

Former state Assemblywoman Grace Meng was sworn in Thursday as a member of the House of Representatives.

Meng, who replaces U.S. Rep. Gary Ackerman, won the seat in November after defeating Councilman Dan Halloran, R-Whitestone.

She was sworn in by House Speaker John Boehner, R-OH.
