Meng Endorses Vallone in Race for Halloran's Seat

Congresswoman throws weight behind Flushing attorney in bid for northeast Queens seat.

U.S. Rep. Grace Meng has endorsed Paul Vallone, a Flushing attorney and brother of Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. in the race for Councilman Dan Halloran's seat.

Vallone also recently received the nod from state Assemblyman Rob Kim.

"Paul Vallone is a strong fighter for the community and will make a dynamic and effective City Council member," Meng said. "He understands the needs of the district and will serve the public with honesty and integrity. Paul and I are both raising our families in Queens and know the importance of keeping our community a great place to live."

Vallone will face off in the Democratic primary for Halloran's seat this fall against former state Assemblyman John Duane, long-time community activist and urban planning consultant Paul Graziano, former Halloran chief of staff Chrissy Voskerichian and Austin Shafran, who formerly worked for Empire State Development.

Dennis Saffran, a Douglaston attorney, is the only Republican in the race.
