Mayoral Candidates Release 2012 Returns, Thompson's Income Eclipses Rival

Thompson reported earnings more than five times that of Quinn.

The Democratic mayoral candidates have released their income figures and reports show that former city Comptroller Bill Thompson earned more in 2012 than his three competitors combined, the New York Post reports.

Thompson reported total earnings of $774,621 from his holdings and his job as a managing director at an investment firm, while City Council Speaker Christine Quinn reported earning $137,777.

Public Advocate Bill de Blasio with his wife took in a combined $165,207, while Comptroller John Liu, whose city salary is $185,000, hasn’t released his returns.

The salaries of the Republican mayoral candidates, however, back-slap the Democrats: Although billionaire supermarket mogul John Catsimatidis and Doe Fund founder George McDonald did not release their returns, Joe Lhota reported an adjusted gross income of more than $2 million, mostly from his previous job as an exec at Madison Square Garden and chairman of the MTA.
