Letter to the Editor: CB 11 Member Writes About Campaign Flyer

In letter, Auburndale resident writes about smear campaign flyer he received in the mail.

Community Board 11 member Henry Euler sent this letter to the editor to Patch on a piece of campaign literature. Patch has printed his letter in full below.

Today, I received a campaign flyer from Jobs for New York. The flyer was a smear on Chrissy Voskerichian and Austin Shafran, depicting them in a very negative way because of their work with Councilman Dan Halloran (in Ms. Voskerichian's case) and state Sen. Malcolm Smith (in Mr. Shafran's case).

I found this type of campaign literature with all of its negative innuendos very disturbing, distasteful and outrageous. Who will be next to receive this kind of treatment if we do not speak out and condemn such flyers?

Who is this group known as Jobs for New York? Why don't they identify the principals of the organization by name? I had been told that they are a group of disgruntled developers who would like to see the rezonings rolled back, however, I am not certain if this is true or not.

I am sure that all people with good intentions would repudiate such garbage as this piece of campaign literature. It has no place in our discourse regarding the issues that face our communities.
I am sending this e-mail to the local papers and the media. I am sure that they will receive other calls about the campaign flyer. Perhaps, they will investigate further. I really do not want to receive flyers that so viciously and unfairly attack candidates for public office.
