Halloran To Kick Off Congressional Campaign on Monday Evening

Councilman will run for the newly grafted Sixth District.

Councilman Dan Halloran, R-Whitestone, will officially announce his campaign for Congress on Monday evening.

Halloran will be running for the newly formed Sixth District. He has the nomination of the Queens County Republican Party and will also be running as the Conservative Party nominee. 

According to a statement issued by his Council District spokesman Steven Stites, "Halloran is running to create jobs, reinforce support for Israel, America’s strongest ally and create energy alternatives to reduce the price of gasoline on hardworking families."

There is currently a three-person race to go against him in the general election.  Assemblyman , D-Fresh Meadows, Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley, D-Middle Village and state Assemblywoman Grace Meng, D-Flushing, who is the , will fight it out to make it to the general election.

The district, which encompasses Bayside, Bayside Hills, Forest Hills, Oakland Gardens, Murray Hill, Fresh Meadows, Auburndale, East Flushing, Queensboro Hill, Briarwood, Forest Hills, Rego Park, Glendale, Maspeth, Middle Village and Ridgewood makes up much of the current district of U.S. Rep. Gary Ackerman, D-Bayside, who for re-election.

The campaign event will take place on Monday at 5p.m. at Bowne Park in Flushing, near Halloran’s home.
