FEMA Will Coordinate From Forest Hills: Report

Agency is setting up relief response in former JetBlue offices, Daily News reports.

The Federal Office of Emergency Management will be coordinating its New York State relief efforts for Hurricane Sandy out of a Forest Hills office on Queens Boulevard, the New York Daily News reported Monday.

Forest Hills Tower, which was once the home of JetBlue, will now host ten floors worth of FEMA emergency management personnel, according to the paper.

The building is currently also the home of the office of City Councilwoman Karen Koslowitz, D-Forest Hills. At one time, the Queens District Attorney was rumored to be thinking of setting up shop there as well.

The building's owners, Muss Development, told the paper that FEMA's new digs are designed to be temporary, and that they are still looking for a long-term tenant to take over when FEMA concludes its relief efforts in the area.
