Asian Americans for Equality (AAFE) Annual “Living in America Fair” at Sky View Center

What: Asian Americans for Equality will hold its annual “Living in America Fair” at Sky View Center and provide a variety of educational and informative services to the general public.  Over 30 event partners, including government agencies, healthcare professionals, bank representatives, media organizations, and local businesses, will discuss topics of free job training, discounted metrocards for seniors, housing, green energy, immigrations rights and loan products for homebuying, among others.  The event will also offer opportunities to win free gift cards and other prizes.

When:  Saturday, March 17, 2012, 11:00am-3:00pm

Where: Sky View Center, at 40-22 College Point Blvd, Flushing, NY 11354 - Level D

More: Public Transportation to 40-22 College Point Boulevard:

Subway: 7 train to Main St. Flushing. Exit near intersection of Main St. and Roosevelt Avenue. Start out going West on Roosevelt Ave towards Prince St. Turn left onto College Point Blvd.

LIRR: Port Washington-bound LIRR to Flushing, Main Street. Exit near 41st Avenue. Start out going Southwest on 41st Avenue towards College Point Blvd. Turn right onto College Point Blvd. Keep moving ahead on College Point Blvd (Clinton Davis Sr. Road).

Three hours of free parking will be available to attendees courtesy of Sky View Center.

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
