Endorsement Roundup for NY6

Find out who is lending their support this week.

Let’s take a look at some more endorsements this week as we merrily roll along towards the state’s Democratic and Republican primaries in June.

U.S. Rep. Bob Turner — Senate

Turner, R-Forest Hills, picked up the endorsement of New York City’s Republican City Council delegation on Monday, locking down a group of people who helped him campaign for the office he currently holds.

The council’s Republican delegation has four members.

“Bob is the symbolic fed-up American who cannot not sit on the sidelines while our country's future is being walked off a cliff,” said James Oddo. “He showed up on the scene with zero political experience, challenged President Obama's failing policies in an overwhelmingly Democratic district and won. It was a remarkable feat and he can do it again."

Assemblyman Rory Lancman — NY-6

Lancman, D-Fresh Meadows, picked up three separate Teamsters Unions in endorsements last week, including UPS workers, transportation workers, auto mechanics and more. The groups giving him the nod were Teamsters Local 804, 808 and 917.

“I’m so proud to have workers who keep New York moving on my side in this race,” Lancman said. “Together, we can make sure that Congress delivers for New Yorkers who work for a living and for their priorities: a good job with a fair wage, reliable benefits, a college education without crushing debt and a secure retirement with dignity.”

Lancman earned the support of the New York chapter of the Organization of Staff Analysts last week, as well.

City Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley — NY-6

The District 15 Machinists Union endorsed Crowley in a release this week. Crowley thanked the group for their hard work and support.

“Throughout the Machinists’ history, they have fought to improve the lives of working and middle class families,” Crowley said. “In Washington, I will continue to advocate for the Machinists’ values where all Americans are rewarded for hard work and are provided the opportunities to achieve the American Dream.”

Crowley also earned her fair share of Teamster support recently. She collected Teamsters Local 210 and 553, representing home heating oil, air conditioning repair and JFK fueling workers.

Assemblywoman Grace Meng — NY-6

Meng grabbed the Teamsters Local 812 Union last week, which includes soft drink and brewery workers across the city.

She held a press event at the Coca-Cola Bottling company in Maspeth.
