Forest Hills native Donald Trump has got a piece of advice for voters in the Ninth District, and he’s sharing it via a robocall going out right now.
“Electing Bob Turner on Tuesday will be a shot heard ‘round the country,” the one-time Republican presidential hopeful tells voters on the call. “Everybody is talking about this election, and everybody is looking to see what’s going to happen.”
Robocalls have been a big issue on both sides in the campaign, with Democrat David Weprin’s camp using them to bash Turner on Social Security and Medicare, and Turner’s campaign bringing big names like Trump and former mayor Ed Koch into the public consciousness.
Weprin’s camp has also sent out a huge number of mailings in the district, powered by their big fundraising advantage.
On Trump’s robocall, the listed issues are the defense of Israel — which has also been a political football on the trail, with both sides claiming to be the state’s more ardent defender — and Turner’s status as a businessman.
The robocall is included in the above video, which Turner’s campaign sent out Thursday afternoon.
