CB 11 to Hold Public Hearings for Two Variances and an Expansion at Dec. 3 Meeting

Board will vote on variances for gas station, auto service as well as expansion of dental office.

Community Board 11 will hold public hearings on variances for a gas station and auto service as well as the expansion of a local dentist’s office at its Dec. 3 meeting.

The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Bayside’s M.S. 158, which is located at 46-35 Oceania St.

The first public hearing will be for the renewal of a variance at the Gulf Gas Station on Union Turnpike in Bayside.

The board will also vote on a variance for Red’s Auto Service, which is located at 233-02 Northern Blvd. in Douglaston.

And a public hearing will be held for the expansion of a dental office at 49-33 Little Neck Parkway.

The city Police Department’s Community Affairs Bureau will give a safety information presentation during the meeting.

Those interested in taking part in the meeting’s public participation portion should register with CB 11 District Manager Susan Seinfeld by calling 718-225-1054 before Nov. 30.

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
