CB 11 To Discuss Auburndale Slow Zone, Elect Officers at March 4 Meeting

Board will also hold a public hearing on capital and expense budget items for 2014.

Community Board 11 will discuss capital and expense budget priorities for Fiscal Year 2014 and a slow zone for Auburndale at its monthly meeting on March 4.

The meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Bayside’s M.S. 158, which is located at 46-35 Oceania St.

The only public hearing scheduled for the evening is a discussion on the preliminary budget for 2014. Attendees will be able to comment on CB 11’s capital and expense budget priorities during the hearing.

The board’s transportation committee will discuss a slow zone for Auburndale at the meeting. CB 11 will also elect its officers for the upcoming year.

Those interested in speaking during the meeting’s public participation section should register by March 1 by calling CB 11 District Manager Susan Seinfeld at 718-225-1054.

The board’s next meeting will take place on April 8.

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
