Attorney General Schneiderman Gives Weprin Thumbs Up

Assemblyman collects another endorsement.

Democrat David Weprin picked up another statewide endorsement in the Ninth District special election on Friday.

New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman came out strongly for the Assemblyman on Friday morning.

Schneiderman joins a phalanx of democratic state officials who have come out to give Weprin their stamp of approval.

“Democrat David Weprin is the right choice for families and seniors in Brooklyn and Queens,” Schneiderman said. “David will be a fierce advocate for taxpayers and working families, and he will fight to preserve Social Security and Medicare.”

Schneiderman is one of the shortest-tenured public officials to come out in defense of Weprin. He was elected in November 2010 and took office in January.

Weprin, for his part, said he was pleased to have the attorney general’s endorsement.

“I am proud to receive the endorsement of New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman. He is an outstanding public official who we can trust to fight for seniors, middle class families, and consumers,” Weprin said. “I look forward to working together to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse so we can protect the services and safety nets families and seniors rely on.”

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

Unfortunately, according to the Douglas Manor Association, the fresh fruit and vegetable market willRead More NOT return this year. No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
