Alternate Side Parking Suspended for Jan. 2

Parking meters will also not be in effect.

Alternate side parking has been suspended for Jan. 2 in observance of New Year's Day, according to the city's Department of Transportation.

Vehicle owners will not need to move their cars today and parking meters will not be in effect. The city is observing the holiday today since the first day of 2012 fell on a Sunday.

Stopping, standing and parking will be permitted, except in areas where parking rules are in effect seven days a week.
