Police Seek Help Locating Sexual Assault Suspect in Whitestone

The suspect attempted to rape his victim in the brush off Cross Island Parkway, police said.

Police are asking for the public's help locating a suspect wanted for attempting to sexually assault a woman as she waited to cross a street in Whitestone on Wednesday morning. 

The victim, a 33-year-old Asian woman, was standing at the corner of 148th Street and Cross Island Parkway around 8:50 a.m. when she was allegedly grabbed from behind by the suspect, who forced her into the brush near northbound Cross Island Parkway, threw her to the ground and attempted to rape her. A nearby witness heard her screams and began to yell at the suspect, who promptly fled.

The suspect is described as a white male between 45 and 50 years old, standing approximately 5-foot-11 and weighing around 220 pounds. He has salt and pepper hair, and was wearing denim shorts and a red t-shirt.
