Police Chase Alleged Thieves Over Nassau County Line Into Little Neck

Suspects apprehended near the intersection of 40th Avenue and Westmoreland Street on Monday afternoon

A total of eight police cars from both sides of the Queens-Nassau county line converged at the corner of 40th Avenue and Westmoreland Street on Monday afternoon, according to a witness at the scene.

The Nassau County Police Department confirmed that officers responded to the scene of an armed robbery at H Plaza, a shopping center located at 495 Great Neck Road in Great Neck, at 5:10 p.m. 

According to the witness, who lives in the Westmoreland section of Little Neck near where the police activity occurred, officers from the New York Police Department and Nassau County police apprehended the suspects shortly thereafter.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to a Nassau County police spokeswoman.

Pedro Martinez, a security guard at nearby Nara Bank said three or four police cars sped past at approximately 5 p.m.

"It all happened so fast," Martinez said. "By the time I came out, they were already gone."
