Police seal off block at cooperative housing complex late Wednesday night

Members of the New York Police Department's Emergency Services Unit sealed off a block at 246th Crescent at 57th Drive in Little Neck for about an hour late Wednesday night to investigate a report of an explosive device at a unit of the Beech Hills cooperative.

Firefighters with Ladder 164 in Douglaston also responded to the scene.

According to a fire official, the device in question was a toy mistaken for an unexploded hand grenade.

The "all-clear" was called at 11:15 p.m., with no injuries reported.
