Long Island Man Killed in Crash on LIE Near Little Neck Parkway

Riverhead resident dies during early morning accident on Jan. 2.

A 31-year-old Long Island man was killed in a car accident Thursday morning on the Long Island Expressway near Little Neck, police said.

Andrew Ingordo, of Riverhead, died after getting into an accident with another vehicle in the westbound lane of the LIE in the vicinity of Little Neck Parkway just before 5 a.m. on Jan. 2.

Ingordo, who was driving a Ford van, was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation revealed that the operator of the other vehicle had stopped suddenly, pulling onto the right shoulder area and coming to a stop, police said.

Upon doing so, Ingordo struck the rear of the vehicle and sustained a body trauma as a result.
