Great Neck Man Arrested in Little Neck Burglaries: DA Spokeswoman

Long Island resident is accused of breaking into a building on Northern Boulevard in August and stealing various items.

A Great Neck man was arrested earlier this month for allegedly breaking into a Little Neck building and stealing various items in mid August, a spokeswoman for the Queens district attorney said.

David Mintz, of Great Neck, was arrested on Nov. 3 in connection to several burglaries at 252-20 Northern Blvd. in August and charged with burglary, grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, a spokeswoman for Queens DA Richard Brown said.

The defendant was also accused of several similar incidents in other parts of Queens, the spokeswoman said. If convicted, he could face up to seven years in prison.

Tim O’Sullivan, who owns the building on Northern Boulevard, had previously told Patch that a man had entered the art school at the site and told the receptionist that he was interested in enrolling his child.

When the receptionist walked away from the desk, the man took her purse, O’Sullivan said. Later that night, someone broke into the building and stole a computer and took a second computer the following night.

The incidents were all caught on videotape.

O’Sullivan said local business owners recognized the photo of the man caught on tape and told him that he had stolen cash from their store’s registers.

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

Unfortunately, according to the Douglas Manor Association, the fresh fruit and vegetable market willRead More NOT return this year. No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
