FDNY Closure List 'A Way to Play on People's Fears,' Says Activist
Student accountant Tom Meara believes the closure list is not a solution to the city's budget crises.

Tom Meara, 22, a student accountant and member of Community Board 11, organized the phone-a-thon to raise community awareness of Mayor Michael Bloomberg's stated plan to close 20 firehouses around the city.
Community Board 11 this week declaring that the firehouse closure would extend reaction time by up to two minutes, since the next closest firehouse is 1.5 miles away.
