Restaurant Robberies
Police said they are searching for a suspect responsible for a series of robberies, including one incident in Forest Hills.
The suspect, who has pulled off five robberies since Aug. 6, has been described as a male wearing a black Oakland Raiders baseball cap, black shirt and sunglasses. He has a scar on the right side of his face and a tattoo with lettering on both of his arms.
Bayside
Taxes Not in the Toppings
A Papa John’s franchise owner who formerly operated a chain store in Bayside has been accused of a $217,000 state sales tax theft, the Queens district attorney said.
Syed Mehboob, 41, of Syosset, was arraigned late last week before Queens Criminal Court Judge Joel Blumenfeld on charges of grand larceny, offering a false instrument for filing, criminal possession of stolen property, filing false tax returns and falsifying business records.
