Crime Up Just Slightly in 111th Precinct in 2012

Police statistics show that incidents are up slightly in four of the seven major categories.

Crime is up one percent in the 111th Precinct during the second month of 2012 with slight increases in four of the seven major crime categories, according to police statistics.

There have been no murders so far this year as opposed to one homicide at this time in 2011. But there has been one rape in the precinct, whereas none were reported at this point last year.

The number of robberies has dropped from 17 incidents in 2011 to five so far this year.

There have been six felony assaults in the precinct in 2012, which was the same number reported at this time last year.

But the number of burglaries has risen from 24 incidents in 2011 to 29 so far this year. And grand larceny has gone up from 47 incidents during the first two months of 2011 to 60 incidents this year.

The number of grand larceny auto incidents has also gone up from 15 incidents last year to 19 so far this year.

Last month, a spokesman for the precinct said that this year so far.

The precinct’s crime statistics through Feb. 19 have been released. Check back with Patch for updated stats through the end of the month.
