Crime Up 32 Percent in 111th Precinct in July

The number of grand larceny incidents shot up during the past month, according to police statistics.

Crime rose a whopping 32 percent in the 111th Precinct in July with increases in three of the seven major crime categories, according to police statistics.

But overall crime for the year is still down just slightly by .6 percent.

There were no murders or rapes in the precinct during the past month.

A total 12 burglaries were reported during the past month, which was the exact same number that occurred during July 2012.

And robberies were down from three incidents in July 2012 to one incident during the same period of time this year.

But grand larceny shot up from 20 incidents in July 2012 to 34 during the past month.

Grand larceny auto was up slightly from seven incidents during July of last year to eight incidents last month.

And the felony assaults rose from four incidents in July 2012 to five incidents during the same period of time this year.

The 111th Precinct covers Bayside, Douglaston and Little Neck.
