Crime Up 13 Percent in 111th Precinct in August

The number of incidents in three of the seven major crime categories increased.

Crime rose 13 percent in the 111th Precinct in August with increases in three of the seven major crime categories, according to police statistics.

There were no murders, but one rape incident, during the past month. No murders or rapes occurred during August 2012.

Three robberies were reported during the past month, which was the exact same amount of incidents during the same period of time last year.

The number of grand larceny incidents rose from 30 during August 2012 to 40 during the past month.

And there were 12 burglaries this past month, which is up from 11 incidents in August 2012.

But the number of felony assaults dropped from seven incidents in August 2012 to six incidents this past month.

And the number of grand larceny auto incidents fell from seven incidents during August last year to four incidents during the past month.

The 111th Precinct covers Bayside, Douglaston and Little Neck.
