Crime dropped 4.5 percent this year in the 111th Precinct with lower numbers of incidents in four of the seven major categories, according to precinct statistics.

There were no murders in the precinct, which covers Douglaston, Bayside and Little Neck, in 2010. In 2009, the precinct reported one homicide.

Grand larceny auto was the crime category in which there was the most significant drop in complaints. In 2009, there were 168 cars reported stolen, but that number fell to 134 incidents in 2010.

The number of grand larcenies also dropped, from 387 incidents last year to 356 incidents this year.

In 2009, there were 85 robberies within the precinct. But this year that number fell slightly to 80 incidents.

Last year, there were four rapes in the precinct, but this year there were six. Precinct Capt. Daniel Ng told northeast Queens residents at a meeting hosted in October by Councilman Dan Halloran, R-Whitestone, that the incidents involved ex-husbands or boyfriends.

The number of burglaries went up from 234 incidents last year to 248 incidents in 2010. Earlier this month, Precinct Capt. Ronald Leyson said police were investigating a series of thefts involving what appeared to be an organized crew.

Felony assaults were also on the rise this year. There were 40 complaints filed with the precinct in 2009, while 51 incidents were filed in 2010.

But Leyson said one incident during which a man struck several officers with a vehicle in his attempt to flee accounted for 10 of the assaults.
