Crime Drops Seven Percent in October in 111th Precinct

Crime dropped seven percent in the 111th Precinct in October with the number of incidents down in three of the seven major crime categories, according to police statistics.

There were no murders or rapes during the past month. During the same week in 2012, the precinct reported two rapes.

The number of felony assaults and burglaries dropped in October in the precinct.

There were six assaults this past month, whereas seven were reported in October 2012.

But the number of burglaries took a nosedive from 31 incidents during the same amount of time last year to 13 incidents this past month.

However, the number of incidents were on the rise in three crime categories.

The number of robberies rose from seven incidents in October 2012 to nine this past month.

Grand larceny was up from 37 incidents during October 2012 to 45 incidents during the same amount of time this year.

And grand larceny auto rose from five incidents in October last year to nine incidents this past month.

The precinct covers Bayside, Douglaston and Little Neck.
