Crime Drops 12 Percent for April in 111th Precinct

The number of incidents dropped in two of the seven crime categories.

Crime dropped 12 percent in April in the 111th Precinct as the number of incidents in two of the seven major crime categories fell, according to police statistics.

The number of incidents rose in only two of the crime categories, while the remaining three remained unchanged. Overall crime is down five percent in the precinct for the year so far.

There have been no murders or rapes in the precinct this year so far. At this point in 2012, there had been two rapes.

The number of grand larceny incidents went down from 33 incidents in April 2012 to 24 incidents during the same period of time this year. And the number of grand larceny auto incidents dropped from 15 incidents in April 2012 to seven during the past month.

Three robberies were reported in the precinct during April 2012 and 2013.

But the number of felony assaults was up slightly, rising from three incidents in April 2012 to four incidents this past month. And burglary was on the rise from nine incidents during April 2012 to 17 incidents during the same period of time this year.

The precinct’s statistics only covered the month through April 21. The 111th Precinct covers Bayside, Douglaston and Little Neck.
