Crime Down in Our Area

Crime is down 3 percent locally from the last 28-day period.

Northeast Queens residents can sleep a bit sounder knowing that crime in our area is down 3 percent.

The measures crime levels in 28-day cycles, the last one running from Feb. 28 to March 27. Even more impressive, the 111th Precinct is down 16 percent in crime levels for the year to date, according to Lt. Dan Heffernan.

In a recent arrest, two alleged perpetrators of grand larceny near the intersection of the Horace Harding Exwy. and Springfield Blvd., were nabbed by local police.

An Apple iTouch was grabbed out of the hands of a young female victim by two males on March 23, according to Heffernan. The victim, who was younger than 15-years-old, was able to identify the alleged perpetrators, leading officers to their arrest.
