Cops: Bayside Mom Leaves Kids in Car, Attempts to Fill Phony Prescription

A Bayside woman left her young children in the car and attempted to fill a forged prescription for Percocet at a Long Island pharmacy Wednesday afternoon, Nassau Police reported.

Detectives stated that Cheryl Ann Shearer, 33, was denied the prescription from Walgreens in East Meadow.

Police responded and during the investigation it was revealed that Shearer had left her two male children, an 8-year-old and a 10-week-old, in her car unattended, while inside the pharmacy. 

Shearer repeatedly denied being the parent of the children and claimed to be the babysitter, police reported. The children were released to a family member.

Detectives determined that Shearer had previously presented forged prescriptions at multiple pharmacies in Nassau County over the past three months.

Shearer is charged with 17 counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd degree, six counts of Identity theft 1st degree, one count of Endangering the Welfare of Child, and False Personation. 

She will be arraigned on Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
