Bayside Man Arrested on Assault Charges: Nassau County Police

Northeast Queens accused of striking man with his car following argument.

A Bayside man was arrested in Long Island last week after he allegedly striking a man with his vehicle following an argument, Nassau County police said.

Agostino Romano, 62, who lives on Bell Boulevard in Bayside, was arraigned on May 2 at Hempstead’s First District Court on second degree assault charges, according to Nassau County’s Third Squad.

On Wednesday, the defendant and a 60-year-old man drove to Best Buy at Old Country Road in a 2011 Suzuki.

A verbal altercation then occurred in the vehicle in the store’s parking lot. The victim exited the car and started to walk toward Best Buy when the defendant allegedly placed the car into drive and struck the 60-year-old, knocking him to the ground, police said.

The victim sustained minor injuries and refused medical assistance at the scene, police said.
