Bayside 7-Elevens Unfazed by Robberies, Mostly

The stouthearted 7-Eleven staff are going about business as usual, even while suspects are at large.

Police in the aren't taking any chances that a pair of robbers who hit three Queens 7-Eleven locations over Halloween weekend might continue their armed trick-or-treating – and neither are the store managers at three 7-Elevens in Bayside.

"The police came and told me about it," said Gary Chang from behind the counter of the in the heart of the . Chang was not daunted by the robbery reports.

The pair hit stores in Jackson Heights, Forest Hills and Long Island City each night from Oct. 30 through Nov. 1, between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. Cops described the duo as a 6-foot white male and a 5-foot-8 Black or Hispanic male, both with stocky builds.

"This is a very busy location with a lot of traffic, even late at night," Chang noted.

"And I have a good lookout," he laughed, pointing his thumb at the security camera behind his head, focused on anyone who might step up to the counter. An additional camera elsewhere in the store is trained on the door.

Cops in the area will also be keeping an extra eye on things, according to one source at the 111th Pct.

"We got a heads-up from Queens North Robbery detectives and we're increasing observations around convenience stores," the source said. 

At the 7, employee Wendell Quilang had also heard about the robberies from local precinct officers.

"They came in to tell us about it and who they were looking out for and then they looked around," he said. "I'm not really afraid. I feel safe here in Bayside."

"I told my kids to observe and report anything suspicious, just to be sure," he added.

Pinto Shah at the said he heard about the police visit from one of the workers.

"We haven't had any problems here for years," he said, noting he has confidence in the security cameras, but admitted, "It's different at night."
