Family Talk: Twin Baby Boys Named After President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney

Millicent Owuor named her newborn twin boys Obama and Mitt.

What's in a name?

Apparently, the names of twin boys in Kenya will be a living memory of this year's Presidential election between President Obama and Mitt Romney, according to a report on the Huffington Post.

Born in Kenya, Millicent Owuor took the celebration of our recent elections a little further than many have here in the United States.

In a Rueters report, Owuor stated "I named the first twin Barack and the second one Mitt."

The same report reveals that the President's moniker did not just go to one of Millicent's new bundles of joy, but that a number of mother's that gave birth near the village of Kogelo chose to honor the president in the same way.

No other reports have surfaced that Mitt's name was chosen by any others.

Picking the name of your child is definitely harder for some than others.

From family namesakes and opting for tradition to newly invented and sometimes down right bizarre choices, the options for baby names are seemingly never ending.

One can only hope that the differences and competition that lay between the Barack and Mitt we've all come to know are not found in the brothers that share their names.

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

Unfortunately, according to the Douglas Manor Association, the fresh fruit and vegetable market willRead More NOT return this year. No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
