Use the Internet If You Are Thinking of Buying Or Selling Your Home

With the real estate market starting to come back, you may be thinking of selling your home and/or perhaps buying a home. While your local real estate is the specialist, it never hurts to get insights whether or not you plan on doing it alone. The internet has some good resources. Your local realtor likely has a website and this is a place to start learning about the area. For example, Madeleine Realty in Forest Hills has a page giving an insight to their community. North Shore Towers on the Queens/Nassau border has a website to help you learn more about North Shore Towers Click here.   (Disclosure:  I have not received any payments or promises of payments in any way, shape or form for any businesses or websites mentioned in this post). I personally did a post awhile back about Bayside that may be of interest. For multiple listings in any area of the country http://www.mls.com/ is where you start. You will get a good idea of what is out there on the market and the range you should expect to pay or what you can expect to sell your home for. http://www.mlsli.com/ is more specific for the Queens, Brooklyn, Nassau County , Suffolk County area. Check out the Buyer/Seller Resources tab. Go to Zillow.com to get an idea how long a home has been on the market. And while we are talking about Zillow.com, this is a good site to find how much homes have sold for. It also has the property taxes for the property as well as does the Multiple Listing Sites.

Homes.com will show on a map the estimated value of a home that you may be interested in.  Enter an address and the home and its estimated value as well as adjacent properties are shown on a map. Go to Trulia.com and you can find both homes for sale and sales that have closed.  What stood out in Trulia is that you click on a home and you can get reviews of nearby school districts from parents. Very good if you have or anticipate having children.

A real estate professional can personally provide the most information about a property and you can get valuable insights by going online as well.
