Bayside Hills Civic Association to Host April 30 General Meeting With City Agencies

BHCA's April 30 general meeting With city agencies' leaders at Colonial Church.

This is a follow-up to the previous blog vis-à-vis the Bayside Hills Civic Association's April 30 general meeting with city agencies:

I am pleased to announce we have been able to invite officials from the New York City Department of Buildings, Queens Liaison Anthony Iuliano; the Department of Parks, Deputy Chief of Operations, Queens Phillip Sparacio; the Department of Parks Queens District Manager Joseph Block; and Albert J. Silvestri, Borough Planner, NYC Dept. of Transportation-Queens Borough Commissioner’s Office.

Once and for all, we are going to address why inappropriate construction, such as that lopsided monstrosity going up on 211th Street, gets permitted in Bayside Hills.

You will notice, elsewhere in the Beacon, other articles about our battle with what clearly appears to be illegal structures. We will also be addressing problems we have been experiencing for quite some time with traffic complaints, our malls’ appearance and how they can be better maintained, the poor condition of the iconic structures along 48th Avenue and along the Long Island Expressway Service Road and other topics that go under the category of quality of life in Bayside Hills. Here is how you can help in making our efforts successful:

I'm asking our BHCA Board of Directors and the residents of Bayside Hills to email to baysidehillscivic@gmail.com any questions you may have for these NYC agency leaders.

I will be collecting your questions between now and April 30 and will ask these questions of the speakers at our meeting. In addition, I will print your questions, submit them to our guests, and follow-up until our concerns have been taken care of. The BHCA, with the assistance of Community Board 11, has the ability to touch base with every agency in New York and reach the highest ranking officials, if necessary.

Obviously, we are going to need your support and for you to spread the word about this most significant meeting. If ever there was the need for a gigantic turnout for a civic meeting, this is the one time we should really pack in that Colonial Church meeting hall in greater numbers than ever before.

Remember, the only thing that’s going to kill Bayside Hills is apathy. Already, our borough is lagging behind in being serviced by our city government as compared to other boroughs. It is time for that situation to be rectified!
