It was a busy week for news in northeast Queens.  

A Long Island man was arrested after allegedly breaking into a Bayside home and threatening to jump off the roof.  

A team of fifth graders from P.S. 203 placed 10th in a national problem solving competition. And the Parks Department said it might close four pools, including the one at Fort Totten, this summer if it could not come up with operational funds.

Monday

Tuesday
A Bayside student who recently won the national Scripps Spelling Bee competition was honored at City Hall.  

Wednesday
The city could close four pools, including the one at Fort Totten this summer due to a lack of funding, but City Council Speaker Christine Quinn said the Council would likely come up with enough money to keep them open.  

Thursday
P.S. 203’s fifth grade team comes in 10th place in the national Odyssey of the Mind contest. And a Long Island man was arrested after he allegedly broke into a Bayside home and threatened to jump off the roof, police said.
