is looking to create buzz for an event it will host for local children on Aug. 28.
The center, located at 228-06 Northern Blvd. in Douglaston, will teach children between the ages of 4 and 10 years about honey bees. A local bee keeper will teach attendees how to make a bees wax candle, plant "bee friendly" seeds and provide honey samples.
The event, which will run from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., will also include story time.
The first 15 children to register will receive a copy of a honey bee book. Additional registrants will be given lip balm, a kids honey cookbook and samples of Annie's Honey Bunny Grahams.
All children must be accompanied by an adult. Members will pay $10, while the cost for non-members is $16.
To register, call 718-229-4000.
