Sewer Upgrade Project Begins in Little Neck

City fixing water mains and storm sewers as well as adding basins and an outfall sewer on streets along Little Neck Parkway.

The city began a project this week that will include as well as fixing water mains and storm sewers in Little Neck, Community Board 11's district manager said.

The project is taking place along several streets off Little Neck Parkway in an attempt to prevent overflow into local waterways, said CB 11's Susan Seinfeld.

"It's a big project," she said. "They'll build new catch basins and an outfall tank so that water will not go into Little Neck Bay."

Seinfeld said the project, which will bear some similarity to a last year, could lead to some issues for residents in the vicinity.

"There could be some water shut off," she said. "And there could be limited parking on the north side of the Long Island Rail Road."
