Registration Is Open for Dick Lynch Turkey Trot

Chamber of commerce will host five-mile walk in Douglaston on Nov. 24.

Douglaston residents will be able to fundraise on their feet during the second annual five-mile .

The race is held in honor of the for the New York Giants and Washington Redskins who lived in Douglaston.

Lynch, who was often seen running through Douglas Manor, led the National Football League for interceptions in 1961 and 1963.

All funds raised by the walk will go to the Douglaston Village Chamber of Commerce.

Those interested in taking part can register online at the chamber of commerce’s website. The registration fee for adults is $25 in advance and $35 on the day of the race. There is also a $3.25 online processing fee.

Residents can also donate $25, $50, $100 or $500 to the turkey trot on the chamber’s website.

Participants can register early between noon and 3 p.m. on Nov. 20 at Station Realty, located at 42-32 235th St. Early registrants will receive a free T-shirt and race bib.

The race will begin at 9 a.m. on Nov. 24 at Memorial Field, which is located at Douglas Road and Knollwood Avenue. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m.

The race will conclude at the neighborhood’s Long Island Rail Road station.
