Queens Bird Club to Host Redstart Discussion at APEC

Event will be held at 8 p.m. on May 15.

The Queens County Bird Club will host a presentation on spring migration in Douglaston on May 15.

Stephane Perreault will discuss the singing behavior of redstarts, which are a colorful type of warbler that often breed in northeast Queens parks.

He will also share the results of a DNA parentage study that he performed as part of his master’s research thesis.

Perreault studied the bird under Robert Lemon, a leading authority on American redstart vocalization.

The bird club’s presentation will be held at 8 p.m. at Alley Pond Environmental Center, which is located at 228-06 Northern Blvd. in Douglaston.

Light refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public.
