Pic of the Week: Lions Club Scholarship Dinner
Group awards scholarship money to nine local students.
The Bayside-Whitestone Lions Club held its second annual scholarship dinner on May 9 at Verdi's Restaurant.
The group honored nine local students for their academic achievements and provided them with scholarship money towards college.
Students honored included Jon Rubio and Jagdeep Singh, of Bayside High School, as well as Nicole Javorsky and Nathalia Ayala Aguilera, of Benjamin N. Cardozo High School.
St. Francis Preparatory School's Alex Heracleous and Cristine Taibi, Holy Cross High School's Dennis Egan and Rahul Gill and World Journalism Preparatory School's Luca Damasco were also given scholarships.
Several elected officials attended the event, including state Assemblywoman Nily Rozic, D-Fresh Meadows, state Sen. Toby Stavisky, D-Whitestone, and Councilman Peter Vallone Jr., D-Astoria.
