Historical Society Will Celebrate 15th Anniversary of Douglaston's Designation on May 9

Dinner at the Douglaston Club will honor the creation of the community's historic district.

The will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the designation of the community’s historic district with a dinner at the on May 9.

The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. A dinner buffet, which will cost attendees $35, will follow at 7 p.m.

The historical society’s annual meeting will be held at 8 p.m.

The guest speaker at the meeting will be Historic Districts Council Executive Director Simeon Bankoff, who will present “Landmark Designation in the 21st Century: The Changing Face of Preservation.”

The Historic Districts Council helped Douglaston to achieve designation in 1997.
