A Douglaston college student has been picked by Glamour Magazine as one of the 21 Amazing Young Women of the year for founding and operating a nonprofit that helps young women with eating disorders.

Kristina Saffron, who founded in 2008, will attend a Nov. 7 ceremony at Carnegie Hall during which Glamour Magazine will pay tribute to 21 young women from around the nation.

Saffron, Rosenman and Becky Allen formed their nonprofit after they underwent treatment for eating disorders.

The group, which is in Farmingdale, raises $30,000 each year to pay for a scholarship that will cover the entire cost of treatment for an eating disorder for one person.

During the ceremony, Glamour will also honor its 10 women of the year.
