Garden Club Upgrades Catharine Turner Richardson Park

Volunteers cleaned, planted and weeded at Douglaston site as part of It's My Park Day.

The Douglaston Garden Club and a group of local volunteers painted the railings, weeded flower beds, planted seeds, trimmed bushes and cut grass at this past weekend.

The club performed the upgrades as , a day during which thousands of volunteers across the city gather to clean up their local green spaces.

Attendees at Saturday's clean up in Douglaston weeded behind Catharine Turner Richardson Park's hydrangeas and planted a dogwood tree that the garden club received through the city's Million Trees initiative.

"Its a park, so there is always something to do to make it better," Douglas Montgomery, the garden club's president. "It was a very successful day. I work at the park free moments I have."
