Douglas Manor Mega Yard Sale Set for May 5

Attendees will be able to purchase items from numerous households across the community.

One northeast Queens person’s trash will become another one’s treasure on May 5 during the third annual in Douglas Manor.

The Douglas Manor Environmental Association will host the event, which will be held at a number of households in the community from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Maps of participating homes will be available at and the .

To participate as a seller, contact Jaime Sutherland at the DMA. The cost to take part in the sale is $25 for a participant household and $50 for a co-sponsor.

The application deadline is April 27. The sale’s rain date is May 12 at the same time.

Sutherland said the yard sale has grown since its inception in 2010.

“This is our third year and it’s starting to pick up,” she said.

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
