All Saints Church to Host Pumpkin Festival on Oct. 6

Second annual event will include food, crafts and a hands-on children's exhibit featuring trucks.

All Saints Episcopal Church will host its second annual Pumpkin Patch Fall Festival on Oct. 6 in Bayside.

Stephanie Hornback, a member of the committee that planned the event, said this year’s festival would offer more activities for attendees.

“It’s going to be a bigger and expanded pumpkin patch festival,” she said. “We’ll have more than 20 new merchandise and craft vendors, which will provide a great opportunity for some early Christmas shopping.”

This year’s main attraction for youngsters is “Touch a Truck,” which is a hands-on exhibit in which children can learn about various types of construction equipment, fire trucks, dump trucks and other vehicles.

Hornback said last year’s festival drew several hundred people and that she expects the turnout will be larger this year.

“We want to raise our profile in the community,” she said of the church. “Each year, we are going to try to assess new ways of expanding the festival or having additional elements.”

The event is free, but attendees will have to pay for food, which includes hot dogs and bratwurst. The church’s café will also be open.

Other activities include face painting, a bouncy house for kids, finger printing for children and, naturally, lots of pumpkins.

The festival will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
