Queens Eats: Gourmet Grilled Cheese

Try your hand at this simple, but tasty, recipe.

There are few things to get my motor running quite like wine and cheese.

So, you can imagine my excitement when, during a trip to meet up with a friend last weekend in Huntington, I discovered the wonderful new restaurant Ideal Wine & Cheese.

This aptly named culinary gem, located in Huntington Village, serves everything from mac and cheese croquettes and gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches to sliders, pastas and thick-cut fries with a variety of sauces, including the Ideal Cheese Sauce. Needless to say, my culinary companions and I were quite sated during our visit.

For a simple, yet delicious, mid-week meal, I decided to make grilled cheese sandwiches on my panini iron using pumpernickel bread and muenster and cheddar cheese. Serve with a salad and you’re good to go. Feel free to adapt the type of cheese and bread used to arrive at your own delicious result.
