Borough Presidents Kick off December Toy Drive

Heading to the zoo? Bring a toy for a child in need.

'Tis the season for toy drives, and the Wildlife Conservation Society will once again be partnering with the city's borough presidents to collect toys for underprivileged children.

Toys can be dropped off at any of the city's zoos or the aquarium during the month of December. Queens residents can bring their goods to the Queens Zoo, located at 53-51 111th St.

“I am happy to support this combined effort to bring smiles and magic to children," said Queens borough president Helen Marshall. "My hope is that this campaign will be a tremendous success and the start of a new tradition.”

Donated toys should be new and unwrapped. Donations of canned and packaged food will also be accepted as part of a partnership with City Harvest.

As a "thank you," participants who make a qualifying donation of either one new toy or ten food items will be given a free ticket to the Bronx Zoo or the the New York Aquarium.
