An Evening with Educator-Author-Journalist-Editor Peter Steinfels

Peter Steinfels, the University Professor Emeritus at Fordham University, is the former senior religion correspondent of the New York Times, where he wrote "Beliefs," a biweekly column on religion. He served as the editor of Commonweal and as co-editor with his wife Margaret O’Brien Steinfels, of the Hastings Center Report, the leading journal in the field of bioethics. He has written over 2000 articles and reviews on church and state issues, international affairs, social policy, biomedical ethics and other topics. He is the author of A People Adrift: The Crisis of the Roman Catholic Church in America and The Neoconservatives: The Origins of a Movement. In 2003 he and his wife received the Laetare Medal, Notre Dame’s highest award for service to church and society.
